So, what would you like to see?
The only thing we know to date is this.
Quote
Agent will take players all around the globe in the shadowy world of late 1970s espionage.

I'd really like some sneaky gameplay which i believe we're guaranteed to see. Like, being in a village sneaking in an alley, climbing up a fireescape on to the roof, and then heading down into the building from the roof door, and go into an apartment where you have a camera waiting for you to take a picture of a meeting on the other side of the street.
All the hassle so that nobody would see you walking in the front door.
Missions like that would be cool.

Are you thinking in a MGS style?
Like Metal Gear Solid 2?
That game is so sneaky, you have to be stealth, or else you are a dead man.
A mission like that would be fun, but the whole game stealth .. hmm don't know..

Some nice ideas there mate!
Don't get us wrong though. We're not working at rockstar, as it almost seemed like you thought we were...
I must agree on that it should be similar to GTA. And i think it will be too. I wonder how stripclubs will be though... Was there strip clubs in the 70s? And if there was, did agents usually go to them? Lol.
Anyways... even if there is stripclubs they will most likely have a totally different feel to them then the one we're used to in GTA games...
And about the character not having a dad... I don't know. I'm sure they'll make is life story dramatic in some ways though.
Maybe you play with his dad for a while in the story and then he dies? But what do we know?

I didn't played MGS1 , but 2 was so long, and talking about MGS4, I love the cutscenes, but they are taking to damn long, the story is brilliant.
Can't wait for the Agent story, I think that's going to be awesome, thinking of espionage, that's a interesting subject... :-)
Voice recognition would be cool, but as a option, not throughout the whole game, I think that is going to irritate in the end.

I don't think they will make it like msg... But it will have agent gear and agent specific things so maybe some sneaky missions and agent like mission types... Like rigging a hat with a microphone and then having to listening in on a conversation or something like that? That would be quite cool.
Also i think it will be like GTA but with the whole different theme of agent and the 70th. After all it's Rockstar North... They've never disappointed. Smiley So they are going to make this a great game, no doubts.

These are my thoughts about forthcoming Agent :
Places : Berlin, Middle Eastern city like Beyrouth, South American Town like La Havana, etc.. Some espionage hotspots. Even the US.
I don't think those will be open-world cities but I imagine large levels (three-four boroughs for each city), where several missions could be handled.
Characters : due to Rockstar tendency to use foreign characters in GTA serie, I hope the main character will be a soviet. Other take to your usual espionage theme.
Gameplay :
- action-stealth elements, don't get it too franctic or your cover will blow out.
- intel : I agree that intel and counter-intel will be a main focus of the game. I imagine some kind of interactive dialogue system (in some way like the one featured in Alpha Protocol).
- coding : code your own messages or decode enemies ones
- disguising : similar to what featured in Hitman series
- spotting : first spot areas, guards routines, possible exits, etc. then choice weapons and supply

Great post! Welcome to our forums!
I really like your gameplay ideas! The coding and decoding is really interesting. Would be nice to see something like that in the game...

That's a nice post you got there.
Action-stealth sounds awesome in combination with some nice gadgets, what are the gadgets like back in 1970?
How would the coding go? , like a quick time-event, or really some puzzling?
It would be cool to have different styles of each thing you mentioned.
Like coding in a dark silent room, with puzzling, or coding when a bomb is set to explode and you have to push the right buttons.
Yes buttons, I don't like it that much when there is to much analog action going on.
On the soundtrack part, I'm curious to see, if we are getting a soundtrack?
I mean like a "radio" of course we will get a "overal" soundtrack, but we don't know if Agent is using cars to transport.
I Also can't wait to see what the "safehouses" will be like, maybe a place to put gadgets together and plan your stuff..

Hi guys,
glad to see you find my ideas interesting.
I was also thinking to some other elements which could be added :
interrogation : something quite brutal. See Splinter Cell Conviction then add "gadgets" and get it more visceral...
sources : find, corrupt and betray sources. there will be your main info providers.
non mission-based : Only the main plot will be given through a classic mission-based cutscene. Then you'll have to collect info by sources, decoding, etc. then set up your own objectives. You the only one to decide what to do, but think twice, things could not be so simple.
Totally agree with your safehouses point of view. Important places to plan stuff
Coding/decoding should be handled through puzzling (let Rockstar imagine cool ways to make it fun...)
As for cars, that's the biggest unknown for me...

Interesting ideas you have there on the more freely based missions.
What if it would be (or at least some missions could be) like the GTA missions, but without the minimap, and you have to use agent gadgets and agent tactics to find him in a city, and then first having to be able to like prove it's him, by taking a photo of him through the small hole under some doors. And once he's identified, maybe go in and blackmail him for information on whatever it might be. Something like that i think could be very cool.

Hi.
I love the idea of going back to a GTA2-esque kind of feeling, in terms of gang-balancing, perhaps managing sources and other agents in a sandbox. Seeing the effects your decisions have on PEOPLE, as opposed to the environment is something quite new and interesting to me. And it's always fun in games to play with these options you have, even if the managment is indirect (through work). And I am not thinking inFamous'- scripted decisions. Merely; help one guy out, piss the other guy off.
Perhaps a long term gameplay mechanic would be interesting too. The more subtle you are in your actions, (whetehr you're in a mission or messing about) the easier the game is. By subtle I mean, less cars being crash, less shots being fired. Less fun being had. The magic of GTA was that everything was possible, but it was still a challenge becuase of the police - the more fun, the more police.
And finally, as it's a game of subterfuge, a Demon's Souls esque advice system could be added, in a semi persistent online world. Ofcourse others can leave messages, thematically that would make sense. Who knows, any game designer takes many months to think these ideas up, and I am just floating about with vague little details.
And anyway, Rockstar North really aren't Rockstar like that anymore, I expect we'll get a strong narrative with cinematic roots. Basically a game that is , all thematic to satiate the Houser brothers need of authorial control.

This is the part I like the most, I also think we are getting a more grittier style then GTA, more cold and brute.
What I love is the idea of mixing cinematics with gameplay, you've played Uncharted 2 yet? Some moments in there are so fluent, I love it.

An ability to customize the apparel. You know, every agent needs different appearance to perform their duties. For example, there's an assassination that required us to disguise as a policeman (sounds like Hitman series hehe).

Nice one, didn't think of that.
Would be great to customize your apperance, as well as the weapons, if you want to use a silencer or not, so you can approach the missions differntly.

Yes, an ability to customize the apparel and weapons. Also, I'd like to see the killing techniques that used by common intelligence services. For example like, telephone bomb (Mossad's technique), poison gun (KGB) and many others.

I have played Uncharted 2, and while I found it wholly entertaining, I am bored of these refined experiences. Especially narrative or story driven, a bit of a game design puritan here.

Long and complicated political assassinations, this is like one of my video game dreams.
